Alex Gold has over 25 years of experience in the medical field. In 1995, they began their career as a Resident in Medicine and Fellow in Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In 2000, they became a Research Fellow at Harvard Clinical Research Institute. From 2001 to 2012, they worked at AstraZeneca, where they held various positions, including Executive Director, Development Leader - BRILINTA, Executive Director, Development Leader - CRESTOR, Executive Director, Clinical Development - Diabetes, and Sr. Director, Clinical Development. In 2012, they became Vice President, Head of Clinical Development at Reata Pharmaceuticals, where they were a member of the Senior Executive Team. From 2013 to 2017, they were Senior Vice President, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs at Portola Pharmaceuticals, where they headed Clinical Development and Medical Affairs. In 2017, they became Chief Medical Officer and President of Sanifit, INC. In 2021, they were appointed Independent Director of the Supervisory Board at VarmX. Additionally, they have been an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine since 2014.

Alex Gold completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Brandeis University from 1989 to 1991. Alex then attended Harvard University from 1991 to 1995, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree. During the same period, they also attended Harvard Medical School, graduating with an M.D. In 2008, they took a course at The Wharton School titled "Essentials of Management".
