Colin Smith

Colin Smith has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Colin is currently working at Vast as the VP of Station Engineering since December 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Also Capital as a Venture Partner starting in July 2019. At Also Capital, Colin was responsible for early-stage investments in various companies and managed a seed portfolio worth over $1 billion. Before their role at Also Capital, Colin gained valuable experience at SpaceX, where they held multiple roles including Sr. Propulsion Engineer, Lead Propulsion Engineer, and Propulsion Engineer from 2012 to 2021. Colin also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2011 and completed an internship at Jordan & Skala Engineers in 2007.

Colin Smith completed their high school education at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from 2001 to 2005. Colin then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2005 to 2009. Afterward, they furthered their education at Virginia Tech and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2009 to 2011.
