Qingsong W. has a wide range of work experience. Qingsong started their career in 2010 as an intern at Sony China Research Laboratory, where they worked on visual tracking in multi-cameras and pedestrian re-identification in multi-camera video surveillance. In 2012, they began their Ph.D. at McMaster University, where they also worked as a research assistant and teaching assistant. Qingsong's research focused on intelligent multiple sensor algorithms for autonomous driving and advanced driving assistance systems, visual object tracking via deep convolutional neural network, deep convolutional neural network based real-time visual vehicle tracking and detection with application to autonomous driving, and fusion with multiple sensor for vehicle and pedestrian detection and tracking. In 2017, they joined TrackGen Solutions Inc. as a Senior Research Engineer, where they worked on ADAS algorithms development, including forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring. In 2018, they returned to McMaster University as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they worked on heterogeneous video tracking and multi-platform vision computing. In 2019, they joined Paravision as a Machine Learning Engineer/Research Scientist. Most recently, in 2021, they joined Vastai Technologies as a Sr. Staff Engineer.
Qingsong W. graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. Qingsong then obtained a Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2012. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McMaster University in 2017.
