Anand Gopalan

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at Vayu Robotics

Anand Gopalan has a diverse and extensive work experience. Anand is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Vayu Robotics, a position they have held since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Strategic Advisor in 2021.

From 2016 to 2021, Anand was employed at Velodyne Lidar, Inc. Anand held the role of Chief Executive Officer from January 2020 to July 2021. Before becoming CEO, they served as the CTO from June 2016 to January 2020, where they were responsible for defining Velodynes LIDAR and Autonomy roadmap and overseeing technology and product development.

Between 2013 and 2016, Anand worked at Rambus, first as a Sr Director, Engineering from March 2013 to December 2015, and then as VP Engineering from January 2015 to June 2016.

Prior to that, Anand held various roles at Kawasaki Microelectronics from 2009 to 2013, including Director of R&D and Mixed-Signal IP development, Senior Design Manager, and Design Manager.

Before joining Kawasaki Microelectronics, Anand worked as an Analog IC Design Engineer at Avago Technologies in 2008 and as a Senior Analog Design Engineer at Kawasaki Microelectronics America Inc from 2005 to 2008.

Anand's career began in 2003 as a Research Assistant at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where they were involved in the development of built-in self-test and self-calibration strategies for RF front-ends. Anand also worked as a Design Engineer at Atmel Inc in 2002 and as a Research Assistant at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 2001 to 2002, where they focused on the design of biologically inspired analog circuitry.

Anand Gopalan completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electronics at the University of Mumbai from 1996 to 2000. Anand then pursued further education at the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning their Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from 2000 to 2001. Anand continued their educational journey at the same institution, completing their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Microsystems from 2000 to 2005.
