Michiel Pieters is an experienced professional in innovation management and public-private partnerships. Currently serving in multiple roles, Michiel advises the Board of Directors at VDL Groep on strategic projects related to Research & Development and Sustainability, while also managing external relationships for public-private partnerships. As a member of the Industry Program Committee, Michiel contributes to organizing the World Open Innovation Conference. Additionally, as a guest lecturer at Nyenrode Business University, Michiel teaches Public Private Partnerships in the Modular Executive MBA program. Earlier experience includes co-founding PM Arbeid B.V. and holding a postdoctoral research fellowship at Tilburg University, focusing on interorganizational relations and innovation. Michiel's academic journey began with a Master's degree in Organizational Behavior Studies from Tilburg University, followed by a PhD project in Innovation Studies at Hasselt University and Eindhoven University of Technology.
