Karen Geerts

Karen Geerts is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in various roles across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Currently serving as a Legal Counsel at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals and as a Legal Consultant for Highlight Therapeutics SL, Karen also holds the position of Senior Legal Counsel at VectivBio. Previous roles include Senior Legal Counsel at Takeda Madrid's Cell Therapy Technology Center and a brief tenure as Data Protection Officer at TiGenix. Karen has substantial experience in intellectual property law, having held leadership positions at Abengoa Research as Head of Legal and IP Departments, along with prior experience as an IP Legal Counsel at Abengoa Solar and as a European Trademark & Design Attorney at Gevers & Associates. Academically, Karen Geerts holds a Magister Lucentinus in IP Law from Universitat d'Alacant and a Master's degree in Law, specializing in Economic and Financial Law from Ghent University.
