Jeffrey Silber

Chief Medical Officer at Vedanta Biosciences

Dr. Silber joined Vedanta as its first Chief Medical Officer in September 2020. He has over 30 years of academic and pharmaceutical industry experience, having most recently served as Senior Vice President in Clinical Development and Head of Development Sciences at EMD Serono/Merck KGaA. While there, he oversaw Global Program Leadership, Global Patient Safety, Fertility/Endocrine Clinical Research, and more recently Biostatistics & Epidemiology and Translational Medicine.

Before joining EMD Serono, Dr. Silber was Vice President and Head of Strategic Portfolio Development at AbbVie. Prior to that, he served in roles of increasing responsibility in Vaccines, Anti-infectives, and Neuroscience over a 16-year career at Merck & Co., ultimately rising to the position of Vice President and Therapeutic Area Head, Vaccine Clinical Research. He previously served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in Camden, NJ.

Dr. Silber received his B.A. from Harvard and his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed training in Internal Medicine at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital and in Infectious Diseases at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
