Bumjoon Kim

Bumjoon Kim is a Staff Research Scientist at Veeco since July 2018, specializing in the development of epi-technologies for SiC and InGaN/GaN LEDs, including advancements in crystal quality for 300mm GaN on Si. Prior roles include Senior Research Engineer at LG Innotek, where leadership in LED chip development was demonstrated, and Principal Research Engineer at Samsung Electronics, focusing on flip-chip LED technologies. Bumjoon Kim has extensive experience in MOCVD processes across multiple companies, including Samsung LED Ltd. and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, contributing to high-brightness LEDs and atmospheric pressure MOCVD tools. Early experience includes research at Optowafer Tech. Inc. and Korea Institute of Science and Technology, leading to a strong educational background with a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Korea University.
