Vela Wood
Rebecca Carpenter is currently the Senior Counsel at Vela Wood. Rebecca has over six years of experience working in various legal positions. Rebecca began their career as an intern at Merrill Lynch in their Private Wealth Management Group. Rebecca later worked as a student attorney at SMU Federal Tax Clinic and then as a law clerk at HKS. In 2013, they became an associate at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, where they represented private equity funds, hedge funds, investment advisers, family offices, and private corporations on a wide range of complex business matters, including fund formation, regulatory compliance matters (SEC, CFTC, and state), and investment activities (including mergers and acquisitions and financings). Rebecca left Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP in 2017 to join Vela Wood.
Rebecca Carpenter's educational career began with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Communications from Texas A&M University. Rebecca then went on to pursue a Doctor of Law at SMU Dedman School of Law.
