Joana Maia currently serves as the Country Manager at Veld Capital since September 2019, overseeing Asset Management in Portugal and managing multiple real estate companies and servicers. Previously, Joana was an Advisor at AnaCap Financial Partners, where responsibilities included incorporating a Portuguese securitization company and advising on asset resolutions. Prior roles include Chief Risk Legal and Compliance Officer at Whitestar Asset Solutions, Chief Administrative Officer at WhiteStar Servicing Company, and Head of Department at Atlantis Servicing Company, where Joana focused on NPL transactions and securitization. Joana's legal experience began as a Legal Advisor at FBL, Advogados and as an Associate and Trainee at Abreu Advogados, specializing in banking and consumer law. Educational qualifications include a law degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and graduation studies in Consumer Law from the University of Lisbon.
