Daniel Russel

Senior Director Of Software Engineering at VELO3D

Daniel Russel has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Daniel started their career in 2002 as a Researcher at Protein Mechanics, where they focused on research related to protein mechanics. In 2006, they worked as a Postdoc at INRIA Sophia Antipolis in France. From 1999 to 2006, they pursued their Ph.D. at Stanford University as a Ph.D. Student. In 2007, they joined UCSF as a Postdoc and later became a Research Scientist, conducting research in the field. Daniel then moved to Google in 2011, where they served as an Exacycle Visiting Faculty until 2013. In 2014, they joined AltSchool as a Research Engineer, working on engineering research. Most recently, they have been employed at Velo3D since 2016, working their way up from Staff Engineer to Principal Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager, and currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering.

Daniel Russel completed their education history with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics from Princeton University in 1999. Daniel then pursued a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Computational Geometry at Stanford University from 2000 to 2007. Following that, Daniel went on to earn a Post Doctorate in Computational Biology with a specialization in Structural Biology from the University of California, San Francisco from 2007 to 2010.
