Serge Barlas

Serge Barlas has a strong background in engineering and management. Serge began their career in 1995 as a Senior Engineering Manager at Hendrickson International, where they oversaw engineering testing, CAD/CAE, and validation activities for the truck suspension group. In 2004, they joined Hadley as the VP of Engineering, responsible for planning and executing new product development and establishing world-class standards in engineering. Serge later took on the role of Chief Engineer and eventually became the VP of Engineering and General Manager, driving business growth and overseeing various departments. In 2020, Serge joined Velvac Inc. as an Engineering Consultant/Program Manager and later took on the role of Manager, Key Product Engineering.

Serge Barlas completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in an unspecified year prior to 1986. Later, they pursued a Certificate in Transition to General Management from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, which they completed by 2010.

Velvac Inc.

The Vacuum Power Equipment Company opened its doors for business in 1934, beginning a long tradition of manufacturing air brake and valve components for heavy trucks. In 1940, the corporate name was changed to “Velvac” in response to the popularity of the company’s Velvet Vacuum Brakes brand. In the mid 1950’s, Velvac began producing a range of“west coast” mirror heads for North American truck manufacturers, becoming an OEM supplier of mirrors to GM in 1956. This started Velvac’s growth and eventual leadership in supplying vision systems to the North American commercial vehicle market. Their product line has expanded over the years and now includes over 4,000 popular vehicle components.
