Bilal Tai

Bilal Tai has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Bilal currently serves as the Business Director for the ECO Business at Venator Materials Plc, where they manage commercial, business development, and sales functions across multiple regions. Bilal focuses on driving long-term sustainability and transitioning to a circular economy business model.

Prior to this role, Bilal was the General Manager at Pacific Iron Products Sdn Bhd, a joint venture involving Venator Asia Sdn Bhd and Coogee Chemicals Pte Ltd. Bilal was responsible for overseeing commercial and manufacturing operations, including production, safety, global sales, marketing, and business development.

Before joining Venator Materials Plc, Bilal held the position of Business Development Manager at Johnson Matthey, where they were responsible for sales and business development in the Chemicals business in the Asia Pacific region. Bilal focused on promoting catalysts, technology licencing opportunities, and services for various industries.

Additionally, Bilal has experience as a Business Development Manager at BP, where they worked on commercializing the Veba Combi Cracking (VCC) Technology through third-party licensing. Bilal also worked as a Regional Sales Manager and Technical Sales Manager at Johnson Matthey, where they were responsible for sales, marketing, and client engagement in the oil and gas industry.

Earlier in their career, Bilal worked as a Commissioning Engineer at UHDE GmbH, where they were involved in the commissioning of a large ammonia plant in Qatar. Bilal also worked as a Process Engineer at Johnson Matthey, providing technical support and services for Syngas plants.

Bilal Tai's education history includes a variety of degrees and certifications. Bilal attended the University of Bradford from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering. During their time at the university, they also obtained a Diploma in Industrial Studies. In 1998, they continued their education at the University of Bradford and completed a Master of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering with Management in 1999.

Later, Bilal pursued further education at Alliance Manchester Business School from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Additionally, they attended the Cambridge Judge Business School in 2021 for Executive Education, focusing on Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies.

In terms of certifications, Bilal obtained the Chartered Chemical Engineer certification from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in 2005. Bilal also became a Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council in 2006. Furthermore, in 2021, they obtained a certification in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from the Cambridge Judge Business School.
