Lai began their career as an accountant at a small firm in Los Angeles. Kelvin quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Chief Administrative Officer at Unitas Global, a cloud technology startup, within five years. At Unitas, Lai was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's finances, from accounting and reporting to taxation and compliance. Kelvin also played a key role in the company's Series A-1 and Series B financing rounds, totaling over $50 million.
In their current role at Venbrook, Lai is responsible for the monthly and quarterly close and consolidation processes for 20+ companies. Kelvin has also led the integration and purchase accounting for seven acquisitions, which have doubled the Venbrook's revenues in one year. In addition to their work on streamlining financial processes, Lai has also been instrumental in implementing new accounting standards (ASC 606 and ASC 842) across the Venbrook Group.
Lai is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
Kelvin Lai has an MBA from Indiana University Bloomington, a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and is certified as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Certified Public Accountant, and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
