Kumar Sankaran has over 26 years of experience in the technology industry. Kumar began their career in 1994 as a Software Engineer at Zensar Technologies. Kumar then moved on to Marconi Communications (formerly FORE Systems Inc) as a Senior Software Engineer in 1998. In 2000, they joined Calient Networks as a Senior Software Engineer. In 2002, they were a Product Manager and Principal Engineer at Opnext Subsystems Inc. Kumar then joined Ampere in 2010 as an Associate Vice President of Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Product Marketing. In 2018, they were a Senior Director of Systems Engineering at Credo. Most recently, in 2019, they were a Senior Director of Product Management and Solutions Engineering at Marvell Semiconductor. Currently, they are the Vice President of Software and Platform Engineering at Ventana Micro Systems, where they are responsible for building and growing teams in multiple geographic locations around the world. Kumar is also a key speaker at leading industry events and is driving product evaluations at customers in the Datacenter, Edge/AI, Automotive, High Performance Computing (HPC), Mobile, Networking and Storage market segments.

Kumar Sankaran has a varied educational background. Kumar earned a BS in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai between 1990 and 1994. Kumar then went on to earn an MS in Computer Science from Texas A&M University between 1995 and 1998. In 2007, they completed an MBA in Finance & Marketing from the University of California, Davis - Graduate School of Management. Most recently, in 2018, they completed a Nanodegree Program in Deep Learning from Udacity.
