Tom Taylor has a diverse work experience in the fields of private equity, venture capital, and legal policy. Tom currently holds the position of Head of Policy (Legal & Regulatory) at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) since December 2020. Prior to this role, they served as a Policy Manager (Legal & Regulatory) at BVCA from August 2017 to December 2020. Before joining BVCA, Tom worked as a Knowledge Lawyer (Funds and Indirect Real Assets) at CMS UK from May 2017 to August 2017. Tom also held the same position at Nabarro LLP from October 2014 to May 2017, where they were responsible for marketing, communications, social media strategy, technical legal support, training, and market and regulatory horizon scanning. Additionally, Tom has experience as a Development Manager at Impetus - The Private Equity Foundation, Business Development and Portfolio Management at Venture Partnership Foundation (VPF), and Business Development and Legal roles at PEAS. Tom started their career as a Lawyer (Funds Associate) at SJ Berwin, where they handled fund formation, drafted complex fund documentation, and engaged in lobbying and negotiation discussions with the UK Government on legal reform issues. Tom Taylor also served as a Trainee Solicitor at SJ Berwin.

Tom Taylor attended the University of Leeds from 1997 to 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History. Tom then enrolled at The Manchester Metropolitan University from 2003 to 2004 and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law, focusing on Law Conversion. Tom later attended BBP Law School Leeds from 2004 to 2005, completing a Legal Practice Course to further their studies in law.
