Diego Berrio has a diverse work experience in the finance and investment industry. Diego is currently working at Techstars as the Investment & Alternative Capital Lead, where they support portfolio companies and provides follow-on investments. Before that, they were a Sr. Investment Manager at Techstars, mentoring and supporting portfolio companies after they went through the accelerator program.
Diego also has experience at Amadeo, where they were a Co-Founder and Partner. Amadeo is an alternative investment manager that combines both debt and equity. Prior to that, they worked at HCVC as an Entrepreneur in Residence and later as an Investment Principal.
Diego's earlier roles include being the Chief Financial Officer at Edupol, a distance e-learning services growth-stage company, where they advised the shareholders and CEO on equity funding and executed debt restructuring. Diego was also an Investment Director at TERRANUM, Colombia's leading hospitality group, where they underwrote investment opportunities, negotiated debt financing, and conducted financial due diligence for buyout deals. Diego started their career as a Portfolio Manager at Bricapital, where they structured investments and participated in fundraising processes. Diego also worked as an Asset Allocation Analyst at Old Mutual Group and as an Economic Researcher at Porvenir.
Diego Berrio obtained their Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes, from 2003 to 2008. In 2011, they pursued a Master's degree in Financial Management at the same university for a year. Later on, from 2016 to 2018, Diego completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Business Administration and Management, General at HEC Paris.
