Richard Penuliar has over 30 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Richard is currently working as a Senior Scientist in Drug Substance Process Development at Ventyx Biosciences since March 2023. Prior to this, from January 2019 to December 2022, Richard worked as a Senior Drug Substance Development Scientist at Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. There, they served as the technical lead and primary contact collaborating with three different contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) simultaneously to manufacture regulatory materials for Arena's Phase 3 API. Richard also contributed to regulatory filings and provided source documents.

Richard also worked as an Associate Scientist at Ligand Pharmaceuticals from November 2003 to February 2007 and as a Senior Research Associate at Chugai Pharma USA from March 2001 to July 2003.
Richard's earlier experience includes working as a Senior Research Associate at Cytel Corporation from March 1994 to March 2001, where they focused on carbohydrate drug development and performed kilo-scale enzymatic cycles. Richard also worked as a Process Chemist at Greenwich Pharmaceuticals Inc from January 1991 to February 1994, specializing in the development of carbohydrate drugs.
