Richard K. Whitaker, Jr., Ph.D.

Richard Whitaker is an accomplished executive in the mental health field, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Vera French Community Mental Health Center since January 2017. In this role, Richard leads over 200 professionals in delivering comprehensive mental health services in Scott County and has fostered collaboration among local healthcare providers. Previously, Richard was the Chief Financial Officer of Southern Hills Counseling Center, Inc. from November 2004 to January 2017, overseeing fiscal operations for a $13 million non-profit. Richard's extensive experience also includes serving as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services, where operational management and program development were key responsibilities. Richard holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Brigham Young University.
