James then pursued a Master of Arts degree in CIR - International Relations from the University of Chicago - Committee on International Relations from 1998 to 1999. Following that, Tanaka attended Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, completing their Juris Doctor degree in International Law from 2000 to 2002.
