Alastair Hood has had a varied and successful career in the technology industry. Alastair began their career in 1997 as a Development Engineer and Product Manager at Renishaw Plc, where they worked on electro-mechanical coordinate measuring machine components. In 2000, they joined Hewlett-Packard/Agilent as a Product Manager, and then moved to Agilent Technologies, where they managed a $30M+ fibre optic transceiver product line. In 2003, they became Managing Director of ASH Business Associates, where they worked with start-ups and small/medium sized enterprises. In 2007, they joined Marquis Advisory Group as a Partner. From 2008 to 2019, they held various roles, including CEO of Verdafero Inc., Advisory Board Member of Kinetic River Corp., Adjunct Lecturer of Sustainability at Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business, and (Acting) Vice-Consul of Science & Innovation at the British Consulate in San Francisco. Alastair also served as a Board Member and Development Director of NanoSight Ltd. from 2004 to 2019.
Alastair Hood completed their PhD in Engineering from the University of Plymouth between 1993 and 1996. Alastair had previously obtained their B.Eng (Hons) in Electronic Communications Engineering from the same university between 1989 and 1993.
