Frank Dellaert

Frank Dellaert has had a diverse and accomplished career in the field of robotics and technology. Frank is currently working as the CTO at Verdant Robotics, a position they started in August 2022. Prior to this, Frank worked at Google as a Research Scientist from January 2020 to August 2022.

Frank also had a significant tenure at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they held multiple roles. Frank started as an Assistant Professor in August 2001 and gradually moved up to become an Associate Professor in March 2007. From March 2013 to August 2015, they served as the Robotics Ph.D. Program Director, with responsibilities including overseeing and promoting the program. Frank continues to hold the position of Professor at the institute.

In 2016, Frank joined Facebook as a "Technical Project Lead" at Building 8, where they contributed to the development and shipping of new consumer hardware products. Frank held this role until August 2018.

Frank's experience also includes their role as the Chief Scientist at Skydio Inc from March 2015 to August 2016 and a Visiting Professor at KU Leuven from August 2014 to July 2015.

Frank began their career as a Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University in August 1995 and worked there until August 2001. Before that, Frank served as an Assistant IT Manager at Compagnie Maritime Belge from February 1991 to July 1993.

Frank Dellaert's education history begins in 1978 when they attended jan-van-ruusbroeckollege for high school, where they pursued a degree in Latijn-Wiskunde. After completing high school in 1984, they enrolled in KU Leuven, where they obtained a Burg. Ir. degree in Electrical Engineering. Following this, from 1993 to 1995, they attended Case Western Reserve University, earning an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Lastly, from 1995 to 2001, they pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
