Weidong Zhong

Weidong Zhong is a seasoned executive in the biopharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Chief Strategy Officer at Verdiva Bio since February 2025. Prior to this role, Zhong held significant positions at Sciwind Biosciences as President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Director from July 2021 to February 2025, and at Terns Pharmaceuticals as Founder, Director, and Chief Scientific Officer from April 2017 to July 2021. Earlier experience includes serving as Global Head of Antiviral Research at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research from August 2011 to April 2017, and as Senior Director of Biology and Head of HCV, HBV, and fibrosis research at Gilead Sciences from September 2005 to August 2011. Educationally, Zhong is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where studies were completed from January 1989 to December 1993.
