Al Otto is a highly experienced professional in the field of retirement plan management and fiduciary governance. Al began their career in 2001 as the President of Rosewood Ventures LLC, where they provided expert witness testimony on retirement plan fee structures. In 2008, they launched OneFiduciary Group, LLC, a provider of investment advice and fiduciary risk management. Al served as the CEO and founder of the company, building a strong client base and offering additional expertise as an expert witness in fiduciary duty cases.
In 2010, Al joined Shepherd Kaplan LLC as a Principal, managing the Atlanta office and providing leadership for a research team focused on portfolio value. Al also served as an advisor to corporate clients, offering guidance on plan design, investment management, and governance matters. Al later became a Consultant to the Firm, specializing in retirement plan, fiduciary, ERISA, and investment matters.
In 2016, Al co-founded Veriphy Analytics, Inc., where they served as the CEO and Director. Veriphy is a web-based business intelligence platform aimed at improving outcomes in the DC Retirement Plan community. During their time at Veriphy, Al focused on due diligence for retirement plans.
Al's most recent work experience includes serving as the National Director of Plan Governance Solutions at Verity Asset Management. In this role, they led the growth of tax-exempt retirement plan management and retirement income account products on a national level. Al's main focus was mitigating risk associated with living longer, minimizing the impact of market downturns on retirement accounts, and helping plan sponsors navigate fiduciary governance issues.
Additionally, Al is a Board Certified Fiduciary and founding board member of The Center for Board Certified Fiduciaries (CBCF). Throughout their career, Al has fostered a client-focused culture and demonstrated a commitment to helping others achieve financial well-being.
Al Otto, AIFA®, BCF™, attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Al then transferred to Virginia Tech, where they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering. Al's additional certifications include a Certificate in Applied Fiduciary Practices and a Certificate in Fiduciary Leadership from Wake Forest University. Al also holds a Board Certified Fiduciary certification from The Center for Board Certified Fiduciaries (CBCF). Al has further obtained certifications in Giving Your Elevator Pitch from LinkedIn and AIFA from CEFEX.
