Michael McConnell began their career as a Delivery Worker and Machine/Warehouse Maintenance at Boing! Bounce Rentals in 2012. In 2013, they became a Computer Lab Monitor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 2014, they were a Research Assistant at the ARC Lab and a Computer Vision Research Assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 2016, they interned as a Software Engineering Intern at Wayfair, where they developed 3 web applications utilizing MVC design, Google Maps integration, and D3.js data visualization. In 2017, they became a Software Engineer at Leidos. Finally, in 2023, they became a Senior Robotics Software Engineer at Vermeer, where they utilized ROS/MAVROS to integrate machine learning and path planning algorithms, developed and integrated robust path planning and obstacle avoidance algorithms, troubleshot Gazebo and/or other simulation environments, and created ROS publishers to tie AirSim World Frame to Obstacle Avoidance Nodes.

Michael McConnell received their High School Diploma from Strath Haven High School in 2013. Michael then attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Robotics Engineering and a Minor in Computer Science. In 2018, they obtained a Professional Education Certificate in Dynamics of Heavy Trucks from the University of Michigan College of Engineering. In 2014, they were certified as a SolidWorks Associate by Dassault Systemes in conjuction with VirtualTester Online, Tangix Design & Development AB. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
