Vermilion Sea Institute
Katie Dell is a highly experienced educator and resource teacher-naturalist at Baltimore County Public Schools since August 2017, specializing in outdoor education, curriculum development, and professional development for teachers. In addition to guiding a team of nine science teachers as the Science Department Chair, Katie serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Vermilion Sea Institute. Previously, Katie contributed as a Community Learning Leader at Miami University, supporting graduate students in inquiry-based education, and worked as a Science Teacher at Baltimore County Public Schools, where curriculum integration and community engagement were emphasized. Early career roles include a Summer Camp Teacher at Friends of the National Zoo and a Head Cashier at The Home Depot, along with an internship at Carroll County Outdoor School. Katie holds a Master of Arts in Zoology/Animal Biology from Miami University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology Teacher Education from Towson University.
