MacKenzie Pfeifer

MacKenzie Pfeifer is currently serving as the Whale Shark Data Manager at Vermilion Sea Institute since June 2022. MacKenzie also works as an Independent Contractor specializing as a Protected Species Observer and PAM Operator since April 2019, holding various certifications including NMFS approval and Norwegian Medical Certification. Previous experience includes a role as a Research Associate II at NOAA, contributing to a survey on Common Bottlenose Dolphins in North Carolina, and an internship as a River Steward for the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, focusing on community education regarding local salmon. MacKenzie started a career as a Carpenter's Assistant at River's Ridge Construction and also has experience as a Retail Associate and Tour Guide at Pendleton Woolen Mills. MacKenzie is pursuing a Master of Arts in Conservation Biology at Miami University, following a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.
