Hal Cohen

Hal Cohen is an experienced executive with a robust background in nonprofit management and public service. Currently serving as Executive Director at Vermont Adult Learning since June 2018, Hal Cohen oversees programs aimed at equipping adults with essential skills for employment and education, including basic skills education and workforce development. Prior to this role, Hal Cohen was the Secretary of the Agency of Human Services for the State of Vermont, managing the largest state agency and its diverse departments from January 2015 to June 2018. Hal Cohen also served as Executive Director of Capstone Community Action from July 1996 to January 2015, supporting over 18,000 individuals annually across multiple counties. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Management from New School for Social Research, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School, and a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Studies from University Without Walls.
