Vermont Legal Aid helps to ensure that one of the founding principles of this country remains alive: justice for all, not just for the few who can afford it. 

We provide free civil legal services to people throughout Vermont, primarily those with low incomes or who meet the income and eligibility guidelines for each of our projects:

        Poverty Law Project

We work to address the causes of poverty, discrimination and inequality through legal representation, community education, public policy and legislative advocacy.

The Advocacy and Support Services team at Vermont Legal Aid works to empower individuals facing legal challenges related to health care, housing, and long-term care. Through direct advocacy, legal representation, and policy analysis, the team addresses systemic issues of inequality and discrimination, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to essential services and support. Their efforts include educating communities about their rights and working to influence public policy for greater equity in the legal system.
