Mark McDonnell has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Mark started their career at CNA Insurance in 1985, where they worked as a Manager until 1999. From there, they joined Encompass Insurance (Allstate) and held positions such as Regional Underwriting Manager and Regional Sales Director for the New York/New Jersey area. In 2007, they moved to Adirondack Insurance/New Jersey Skylands (OneBeacon) as VP of Marketing. McDonnell then joined Tower Group Companies in 2010, where they served as Vice President of Marketing for the Mid-Atlantic Region and later as Vice President of National Personal Lines Sales. Currently, they hold the position of Executive Vice President & COO at Vermont Mutual Insurance Group, which they have been in since 2014.

Mark McDonnell has a diverse education history in the field of insurance, management, and technology. Mark obtained a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) degree from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research in 2013. Prior to that, they completed an MBA in Management from Eastern University between 1999 and 2001. Mark also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business/Biology from Albright College, which they earned between 1981 and 1985.

In addition to these degrees, Mark also pursued various professional certifications from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. These include a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) degree in Insurance obtained in 2006. Mark also completed an Associate in Information Technology (AIT) degree, with a field of study in Insurance/Technology, and an Associate in Automation Management (AAM) degree, with a field of study in Insurance/Technology, both earned from the same institute in 1999 and 1990, respectively. Lastly, Mark holds an Associate in Management (AIM) degree from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, which they completed in 1988, specializing in Insurance/Management.
