Lauren Hinkel

Lauren Hinkel's work experience includes a role as a Senior Scientist at Vernal Biosciences starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Rutgers University from 2021 to the present. From 2020 to 2021, they held the same position at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont. Lauren also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Vermont in 2015. In their early career, they were an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant at Lafayette College from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, they gained experience as a Laboratory Technician at Accupac in 2012.

Lauren Hinkel's education history begins with their graduation from Central Bucks High School West in 2010. Lauren then attended Lafayette College from 2010 to 2014, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, with Honors. In 2013, Lauren participated in a Study Abroad Semester at the University of Glasgow, where they studied Biomedical Sciences, General. Following their undergraduate studies, Lauren pursued further education at the University of Vermont from 2014 to 2020, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology. During their time at the University of Vermont, Lauren also completed a course in Applied Bioinformatics at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in 2018. Additionally, they completed a workshop in Oomycete Bioinformatics at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute in 2011.
