Laney Moot is a Reference Librarian at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach since August 2024, focusing on art programming and collaboration with local artists. Concurrently, Laney serves as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, assisting with the preservation and digitization of a historic film collection. Additionally, Laney works as a Library Assistant at the Vernon Area Public Library, where responsibilities include organizing book displays and providing readers' advisory services. Previously, Laney was a Merchandiser for American Greetings, managing card displays in multiple stores, and held various research intern positions at the SCAD Museum of Art, contributing to exhibits and inventory management. Laney also volunteered as an Archivist at the State Archives of North Carolina, curating a photography exhibit and compiling historical data. Laney holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design and is pursuing a Master of Library & Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The Vernon Area Public Library District directly serves the 44,002 residents of a 29-square mile area that includes all or parts of Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Vernon Hills, Prairie View, Riverwoods and unincorporated Ela and Vernon townships. In addition to access to books, movies and music, the library provides free classes and performances, free Wi-Fi and internet access, on-demand and downloadable music, movies, audiobooks, and e-books, and specialized research services.
