Vernon Area Public Library
Lisa Coleman is an experienced librarian with a strong focus on youth services. Since November 1998, Lisa has been the Youth Services Librarian at Vernon Area Public Library District, where responsibility includes providing reference and reader's advisory services to children, parents, and community members. Previous experience includes serving as an Academic Librarian at Regis University from August 1996 to September 1998, where Lisa provided library instruction and managed the medical collection. Lisa began their career as a Graduate Assistant at the Library of the Health Sciences, University of Illinois, from August 1994 to May 1996. Lisa holds a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clarke University in Dubuque, IA.

The Vernon Area Public Library District directly serves the 44,002 residents of a 29-square mile area that includes all or parts of Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Vernon Hills, Prairie View, Riverwoods and unincorporated Ela and Vernon townships. In addition to access to books, movies and music, the library provides free classes and performances, free Wi-Fi and internet access, on-demand and downloadable music, movies, audiobooks, and e-books, and specialized research services.
