As Manager, Agriculture Innovation, Carolina supports the Agriculture Innovation team in addressing agricultural sector opportunities in our VCS Program. She works with the Program Team and external stakeholders to assess scientific best practices related to cutting-edge MRV technologies and frameworks for GHG quantification in the agricultural sector.
Carolina worked as an international consultant in Sustainable Soil Management at FAO. She supported the Global Soil Partnership on the Soil4Nutrition program and co-designed the Recarbonization of Global Soils (RECSOIL) program and its initial implementation in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Before that, she worked as the coordinator of the Global Agricultural Long-Term Experiment Network at Rothamsted Research supporting the network’s development and a cloud-based platform to gather and analyze metadata of LTEs worldwide. During this time, she also collaborated on carbon farming, and bioenergy projects focused on environmental land management schemes of the UK. Earlier Carolina worked on research projects investigating soil biogeochemical processes, carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling, and GHG in various agricultural landscapes in Europe, the US and Brazil.
Carolina holds a PhD in Agronomy from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo – ESALQ/USP, a MS in Soil Science, and a BS in Agronomy from the Federal University of Lavras – UFLA. She also has a technical high school diploma in Sanitation and Environment from the Federal Center for Technological Education – CEFET/MG.
