Linda Kerns is the Chief Community Living Officer for VersAbility Resources and, as such is responsible for six Intermediate Care facilities and four DD waiver funded homes for adults with intellectual disabilities in Hampton, Newport News, and York County. In addition, she manages two Day Support programs. Linda serves as the cochair of the State ICFIID providers network. She is on the State DBHDS Regional Quality Council, the State DBHDS Peninsula Housing Council, the REACH Advisory Council and the Virginia Network of Private Providers organization. She served as the President of the Peninsula Mental Health Association for multiple years. Linda received her Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from East Tennessee State University receiving the Most Distinguished Student award. She began her career developing hospital social work departments in North Carolina, Virginia, Kansas and California.
When Linda returned to Newport News where she was born and raised, she began her career in developing community- based services: emergency services, case management, residential, outpatient, and day support for individuals with behavioral health needs. She received her Master’s in Social Work degree from Norfolk State University and is Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. She maintains her memberships in the Virginia and National Social Work organizations. She is also a Y500 Certified YOGA instructor and the parent of an adopted SPCA special needs cat, Cleo.
