Ed Ratner

Head of Machine Learning Applications at Verseon

Edward Ratner began their work experience as a Senior R&D Engineer II at Synopsys in 1997, where they developed novel linear circuit reduction techniques. Edward then worked as the Chief Scientist at Pulsent, leading a team in developing a proprietary object-based video codec. In 2003, they joined KLA-Tencor as a Senior Research Scientist, where they served as the technical lead for an off-shore team and developed a new computational engine. In 2006, Ratner became the Co-founder and President R&D of Keystream, where their team developed breakthrough algorithms for video tracking and recognition. In 2010, they founded Lyrical Labs, focusing on video compression technology. From 2011 to 2017, Ratner served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Iowa and taught courses. Edward then founded Edammo Inc in 2018, which was later acquired by Verseon in 2022. In their role as Founder and CEO, Ratner led Edammo in creating new AI applications and achieved recognition as one of the top predictive analytics providers by CIO Applications. Edward currently works at Verseon as the Head of Machine Learning Applications, leading a team developing breakthrough applications in healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, Ratner has been an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Houston since 2020.

Edward Ratner received their high school diploma from Robbinsdale Armstrong Senior High School in 1986. Edward then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at Caltech from 1986 to 1990. Following this, Edward Ratner attended Stanford University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from 1990 to 1996. In addition to their academic qualifications, they also attained a certification from the Newchip Accelerator in March 2021.
