Tim Verbelen

Tim Verbelen has a diverse work experience in the field of machine learning and robotics. Tim is currently working as a Senior Machine Learning Researcher at VERSES since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Lecturer at Ghent University from January 2021 to January 2023, where they co-lectured a specialist course on "Deep Generative Models." Before that, they were a Senior Researcher at imec from October 2016 to January 2023, focusing on distributed intelligence for robotics and IoT. Tim also served as an Invited Researcher at OSGi Alliance from October 2014 to September 2020, and as a Research Engineer at iMinds from October 2014 to September 2016. Tim started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University from July 2013 to October 2014, and earlier as a PhD Student from August 2009 to July 2013, where their research focused on adaptive middleware for mobile cloud computing.

Tim Verbelen attended Ghent University from 2004 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Engineering. Tim continued their education at Ghent University from 2007 to 2009 and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Software Engineering.
