Iban Auzmendi, CFA, FRM has over 15 years of experience in the finance industry. Iban served as the Chief Commodity Risk Advisor to the Executive Board at Vertex Bioenergy since 2018, where they collaborated with the board to define the company's risk appetite and provided commodity risk exposure updates. Prior to that, they worked at Abengoa from 2008 to 2017. During their time there, they held multiple roles including Commodities Hedge and Trading Manager, where they led the derivatives hedging program and managed a natural gas procurement program. Iban also introduced VaR methodology to the company's hedging and trading books. Before Abengoa, they worked at PwC as a Senior Auditor in the Financial Services sector, specifically in insurance. In this role, they orchestrated audit engagements and supervised a team of associates and interns.

Iban Auzmendi, CFA, FRM, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Finance, General from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea between 1999 and 2004. Iban then pursued a Master's degree in Banking and Financial Markets from Universidad de Cantabria between 2004 and 2005. In 2014, Iban Auzmendi obtained the Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Later on, in 2017, they completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and became a CFA charterholder accredited by the CFA Institute.
