Salvador Martos Barrionuevo has a vast and extensive work experience in various companies and roles. Salvador began their career at the European Commission from October 1994 to March 1995. Salvador then worked at PwC in the Tax & Legal Department from April 1995 to December 1995, and later in the Transaction Services & Audit Department from January 1996 to April 2000.

In 2000, Salvador joined Abengoa as the Due Diligence Director & General Counsel for its telecommunications business unit, Telvent Sistemas y Redes, S.A. Salvador held this position from May 2000 to January 2001. Salvador then transitioned to Abengoa Bioenergía, S.A., where they served as the General Counsel, Director of the Internal Audit Department, and HR from January 2001 to December 2005. During this time, they also served as the Secretary of the Board of Directors and managed legal matters, joint ventures, customer off-takes, and international industrial construction documentation.

In January 2006, Salvador became the Executive Vice President of Abengoa Bioenergy of Kansas LLC, Abengoa Bioenergy of Indiana LLC, and Abengoa Bioenergy of Illinois LLC. In this role, they were responsible for project development, financing, construction, start-up, and operations of three ethanol plant projects in the USA, with a total investment over $500 million.

From March 2010 to March 2013, Salvador held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Abengoa Bioenergy USA. Salvador had profit and loss responsibility for the US operations, managed assets financing worth over $1 billion, and oversaw the operations of six ethanol plants.

In March 2013, Salvador was promoted to Executive Vice President of Technology & Business Development at Abengoa Bioenergy. Salvador held this position until June 2017. During this time, they focused on technology development, business growth, and efficiency initiatives.

Currently, Salvador is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Vertex Bioenergy, starting from June 2017. In this role, they are primarily responsible for implementing efficiency initiatives and leading the Commodities and Trading department.

Salvador Martos Barrionuevo's education history includes multiple institutions and degrees. Salvador pursued their senior year of high school, specifically 12th grade, at Lawrence D. Bell High School in Dallas, Texas, USA. After completing high school, they attended the Universidad CEU San Pablo, where they studied Law and Business (Jurídico-Empresarial) as part of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid program. Salvador also studied at the Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business School, from which they obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
