Martyn Botfield

Martyn Botfield, PhD, currently serves as Vice President of Translational Medical Sciences at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a position held since November 2011. Previously, Martyn held the role of Senior Director and Global Head of Biomarker Research and Translational Pharmacology at Vertex Pharmaceuticals from 2006 to 2011. Martyn's career also encompasses experience as a Senior Scientist at Ariad Pharmaceuticals (1992-1997) and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University (1989-1992), where Martyn also worked as a Staff Scientist at ARIAD during the same years. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Physiology & Biophysics from Harvard University (1984-1989), an MS in Zoology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (1981-1983), and a BS in Marine Science from Long Island University, Southampton Campus (1977-1980).
