Phani Sukhavasi

Phani Sukhavasi is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Currently serving as Director of Global Engineering at Vertex Pharmaceuticals since August 2013, Phani has successfully developed comprehensive engineering solutions for a new Cell and Gene therapy facility in Boston. Previous roles include Senior Manager of Global GXP Engineering, where oversight of the design and commissioning of a QC laboratory in Brazil was a highlight, and Manager of Global Engineering and Real Estate, managing the relocation of Vertex's global headquarters. Earlier career highlights include significant positions at Lonza, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genzyme, Exela Pharma Sciences LLC, and Software Catalysts LLC, demonstrating a consistent focus on compliance, validation, and engineering excellence. Phani holds a Master's degree in Management from Harvard Extension School, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
