Dave Van Meter joins us from Ivantis (a Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery company), where he served as President & CEO from 2008 (as the 2nd employee) until it's exit, including becoming Chairman of the Board in 2015. Following approval in late 2018, the Company reached $26 MM in revenue in 2019, one of the fastest and most successful medical device launches in history. After taking the company to nearly $70 MM in revenue in its 3rd full year of sales, the Company was sold (in January 2022) to Alcon for $470 MM plus milestones. For his efforts, Dave was named the Ernst and Young 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year for Orange County, CA, and the Company was named the 3rd Best Place to Work in the Orange County Register's 2020 annual rankings.
Previously, starting in 2001, Dave worked at Abbott’s Vascular Division, where he was an early leader in the creation and growth of a business that grew from $60 to $400 MM from 2001 until 2006. His roles included Director, US Marketing, and Vice President/General Manager, Coronary Business.
In 2007, following Abbott’s acquisition of Guidant’s Vascular stent business, Dave became Vice President, Strategic Marketing, for the nearly $2 billion business. Previously, Dave worked for notable minimally invasive surgery companies including Applied Medical and US Surgical (Covidien).
Dave graduated from Hillsdale College with a BA in English and Political Science, and received his MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
