Sandeep Bhadra

General Partner at Vertex Ventures US

His earliest memories are of the building gadgets – toy microscopes, primitive Morse-code telegraph receivers, toy steamboats – and then reading about how they worked. At 21, as a freshly minted electrical engineer, he helped set up and operate India’s first Wi-Fi hotspot and felt how transformative technology could be for business users, how hard infrastructure was to operate at scale and how demanding business buyers could be.

Most recently, he was a Principal at Menlo Ventures where he focused on investments in infrastructure and data/machine-learning driven applications. His investments there included Platform9, Signifyd, Unravel Data and Clarifai. Prior to that, he was with Cisco’s Corporate Development team learning how a market leader uses inorganic strategies to grow and transform itself. While there, he worked on Cisco’s investments in MapR, Platfora, Moogsoft, and acquisitions of Metacloud, tail-f, and Memoir Systems.
