David Wheatley has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. David started their career in 2002 as a Ticketing Sales Administrator for Sunderland AFC, where they handled customer queries and worked on special events. David was also seconded as a Media and Communications Officer, gaining experience in the football industry. From 2010 to 2017, David worked as a Freelance Football Journalist, writing articles for various renowned publications. In 2017, they joined Cordant People as an Online Advertising Analyst, where they managed advertising contracts, performed data analysis, and implemented cost-saving measures. David then served as a Digital Content Analyst for Luxury Leisure Talarius - Novomatic Group from 2020 to 2022, analyzing gaming performance and marketing data. Currently, they hold the position of Marketing Analyst at Vertu Motors plc.

David Wheatley attended the City of Sunderland College from 2003 to 2004, where they obtained a NCFE in Creative Writing. From 1996 to 1998, they also attended the same college and received an A-Level in English Language, English Studies, and Italian GNVQ Level 2. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1996, David attended Sandhill View Comprehensive for their high school education. At Sandhill View Comprehensive, they studied English Language, Literature, Geography, Sciences (Double Award), I.T., French, Maths, and Business.

David Wheatley also obtained a certification in "The Fundamentals of Digital Marketing" from Google Digital Garage in December 2022.
