Research Engineer at Vescent Photonics

Cole Smith has a diverse work experience, beginning with a Grounds Department Employee at the Wayzata Country Club in 2014. In 2017, they became a Rock Climbing Route Setter at the Colorado School of Mines Outdoor Recreation Center, where they managed and trained 6 peer route setters each year in technical and safety skills. In 2019, they took on two roles, an Undergraduate Researcher at the Colorado School of Mines and an Automation Intern at TTM Technologies. In 2021, they began their role as Applications Engineer at MKS Instruments, and in 2022 they became a Photonics Research Engineer at Vescent.

Cole Smith attended Providence Academy High School from 2012 to 2016. Cole then earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from Colorado School of Mines in 2020. In 2017, they obtained a Solid Works: Certified Associate- Mechanical Design (CSWA) certification from the SolidWorks Authorized Training Centre. Currently, they are pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Physics with a focus on Optical Materials and Devices at the University of Oregon.
