Victor Vargas Bermudez

Victor Vargas Bermudez has a diverse range of work experience. Victor started their career as a Production Assistant at Ederka Pharmaceuticals in 2014, where they assisted in the physicochemical analysis and pharmaceutical formulation processes. In 2015, they joined CICESE as an M.Sc., where they gained knowledge of scientific databases, performed alignment and identification of conserved residues in amino acid sequences, and conducted docking assays. From 2018 to 2022, Victor worked as a PHD Student at CNYN, where they utilized high-performance computing for MD simulations, free energy calculations, and virtual screening. Victor also conducted preprocessing and filtering of computational chemistry datasets and calculated molecular descriptors using RDkit. In 2021, they joined Udacity as a Machine Learning Specialist, where they worked on projects such as customer segmentation, training a Convolutional Neural Network with TensorFlow, and modeling a dataset to identify potential donors for an organization. Currently, Victor is a Data Scientist at Vesta, starting in 2023. In this role, they identify business problems and provides solutions, owns program performance, approval rate, and fraud rate, and creates features and applies them into rules and models.

Victor Vargas Bermudez has an extensive education history in the fields of data science, drug discovery, and molecular dynamics. Victor started their most recent educational endeavor in 2021, obtaining a Nanodegree in Machine Learning from Udacity with a focus on data science and technology.

Prior to that, from 2018 to 2022, Victor pursued a Ph.D. in Drug Discovery and Molecular Dynamics at the Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology (CNYN). During this time, they were a candidate for their Ph.D. degree.

Before their Ph.D. studies, Victor earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Life Sciences from Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, where they studied from 2015 to 2017.

Victor's educational journey began in 2008 at the Instituto Tecnológico de Celaya, where they completed their Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering. Victor studied there for four years and specialized in bioprocess optimization.

In addition to their formal education, Victor has also earned several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Notably, they obtained a Nanodegree in Machine Learning from Udacity in September 2022. Victor also holds certifications from NVIDIA, BioExcel CoE, European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI, and Chemical Computing Group for various competencies related to deep learning, biomolecular simulations, chemoinformatics, and structured-based drug design.
