Robert Ernst

Robert Ernst is a highly experienced technical lead and engineer specializing in wind energy and mechanical engineering. Currently employed as a Tech Lead Specialist in Resin & Root Connection at Vestas since November 2022, Robert previously held the position of Senior Wind Turbine Blade Engineer at Polytech. Prior to that, Robert contributed as a Scientist at TNO, focusing on R&D in structures, materials, and condition monitoring for wind energy. With a strong background at Vestas from 2015 to 2020, Robert developed non-destructive testing and structural health monitoring solutions and served as a Mechanical Engineer, leading rotor blade root joint designs. Robert earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich, where research centered on Time Reversal Techniques for Quantitative Non-destructive Testing, and also holds a Master's degree in the same field from the same institution. Early career experiences include roles at RUAG Aviation and Hilti, focusing on fatigue calculations and experimental design.
