Katarina Bjelke

Katarina Bjelke currently serves as the Director General at Vetenskapsrådet / Swedish Research Council since September 2022. Prior roles include Chairman of the Board at the Swedish National Space Agency from May 2019 to September 2022, and Director University at both Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala University during various periods. Bjelke has also held a significant position as Director of Research Policy at Regeringskansliet, Utbildningsdepartementet between 2008 and 2015, and served as a Board Member at ESS AB from 2010 to 2014. Educationally, Bjelke earned a PhD in Medicine with a focus on Neuroscience from Karolinska Institutet, where studies were completed from 1984 to 1989.
