Maria Nilsson is the Head of Unit for Strategic Data Resources at Vetenskapsrådet / Swedish Research Council. Maria is responsible for initiatives related to secondary use of data on national, Nordic, and international levels, as well as open science. Maria is also the Head of Unit for Register-based Research, where Maria coordinates government commissions related to infrastructures for register-based research and national coordination on open access to research data. Additionally, Maria works as a Special Adviser at NordForsk, focusing on Nordic cooperation on research and research infrastructure, particularly in health and welfare. Maria has a background in molecular endocrinology, holding a PhD from Karolinska Institutet.
