Alex Yamashita

Alex Yamashita has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. They began their career as an Intern at IPS Publishing, Inc., where they developed, implemented, and maintained test scripts for the flagship product. At the same company, they later became a Consultant - Engineer, responsible for product QA and researching and developing prototypes for new technologies.

Alex then moved on to Renaissance Learning, where they held various roles such as Sr. Software Engineer, Tools Engineering Manager, and Sr. Software Engineer II/Big Data Tribe Architect. They fulfilled technical lead, developer, and mentorship responsibilities for key projects, and successfully transitioned into using C#.

Following their time at Renaissance Learning, Alex joined WebMD Health Services as a Data Architect, where they stood up and managed a secure Hortonworks Data Platform cluster in AWS.

Currently, Alex works at Vevo as a Director Of Engineering, leading a data engineering team. They have held previous positions at Vevo, including Sr. Engineering Manager - Data and Distribution and Engineering Manager - Data and Distribution.
